Jantar Mantar, Jaipur

One of the most interesting places in Jaipur is the Jantar Mantar, a fantasy-like complex of gigantic astronomical instruments, which are the finest surviving examples of masonry instruments anywhere in the world. Built in the mid 1700s, these instruments are able to calculate astronomical movements with great precision. It has recently been awarded the status of a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
