Pictoguides in Paperback!

by Amit Ray on September 16, 2011

Comic-style downloadable, PDF guide to Golkonda FortToday’s a red-letter day for us. It marks the start of a grand experiment, larger in scope than we have attempted in the entire course of our short – but so far very eventful – existence.

As of 8 PM today, we will complete the initial print run of our very first paperback guidebook, a 2-in-1 Pictoguide to Golkonda Fort and the Qutub Shahi Tombs in Hyderabad! It marks the start of an ambitious series of efforts to bring our so-far digital-only guides into bookstores, hotels and travel desks – in short, into the real world and closer to you, the traveller.

The Best Guides for Tourists in Hyderabad

We are confident that these will be the best guides for tourists visiting Hyderabad. Consider the following:

  1. Go!Places is not just a business. It is a platform for history enthusiasts to channel their knowledge, creativity and passion into promoting Indian heritage. As such, our guides aren’t just a bunch of pages printed and stapled together – each guide is a labour of love
  2. Our Pictoguides are extensively researched and provide documented references, unlike any other guide in the market; you can be sure you are getting authentic information
  3. The comic-style format gives facts at a glance so you spend your time looking around rather than at the guidebook
  4. Our guidebooks don’t rush you about like human guides; you can enjoy the monument at your leisure, taking photos and looking around uninterrupted
  5. You can share one guide among your group, unlike individual-oriented audio guides; after all, the shared experience is most of the fun!
  6. Apart from detailed information on the two monuments, we have also included a list of other things to see and do as a sort of bonus feature for newcomers to the city
  7. And, in keeping with our social mission to promote history and heritage, our guides continue to be priced very, very low. The MRP of this 36-page, full-colour guide to Hyderabad monuments is a mere Rs. 200, almost a third of what you would spend for a local guide for the two monuments included! Most of this goes towards printing and distribution.

Where Will It Be Available?

For a start, these guides will be made available at selected hotels in Hyderabad. We hope to soon sign up a book distributor as well, so the guides are made available at bookshops near you. You can, of course, always send us an email and we will ensure they are delivered to your home!

We are working on other options as well. Do you have any suggestions?
