Center Head

Role

In a nut-shell, we expect you to do what it takes to create products, sell them and quickly scale up our business on a limited budget. This includes but is not limited to:

• Business development, partnerships, sales & distribution: 30% of the time
• Online and off-line marketing, PR, media exposure: 20%
• Developing Chennai into a hub for research, content creation and product development: 20%
• Recruitment and people management including freelancers, interns, part-timers and other non-employees as well as full-time employees in future: 20%
• Shared responsibility on research and academic outreach: 10%
• Innovating or improving our products, processes, infrastructure
• Collaboration with other centers and the Go!Places team to achieve our shared business and social objectives

Requirements

• Passion for history / heritage and travel
• Self-motivated, independently productive on a remote-work basis; experience of remote-work environments preferred
• Some corporate work experience, preferably in diverse sets of functions; sales / marketing / project management experience is a plus
• Well-networked in the city; excellent communication and people skills; able to lead and inspire others
• Entrepreneurial; willing and able to act as an owner; can get things done quickly and effectively without support infrastructure and with minimal budget
• Must have computer, broadband internet and MS Office, email and other basic office software
• Should have a strong presence on social media such as Facebook, Orkut, Twitter, LinkedIn; forums such as Tripadvisor and blogs

Compensation and Work Style

• Salary: 12,000 per month (on a full-time basis) + reimbursement for official travel + annual bonus based on company performance
• Work remotely from home except for local commute and travel required as part of role
• Flexible hours but must be available at pre-determined times during the day to facilitate communication / collaboration
