About Us
February 2009: An impressionable youth is laid off after only six months into his first job. He calls up his brother.
“Hey bro, I got laid off.” “Oh cool, let’s start a company” “Will I be CEO?” “No.” “Will I make a ton of money?” “No.” “Will it pay the bills?” “For rent, groceries and electricity. And phone if you swear you have no girlfriend.” “OK. But I want internet.”——–
We’re a start-up travel firm founded by two guys with extensive experience in the travel industry – as travellers!
We have no outside funding, no ‘right’ way of doing things and no preconceived notions (well, not too many at least)! Instead we offer fresh ideas, cool products and knowhow based on travel across 20+ countries in an effort to make your travel experience totally great and wonderful!
Our Mission: Bring History to Life!
We want to whisk you away from the drab tedium of guidebooks with their dates and architectural detail and blah-blah and give to you instead vibrant and exciting content that takes your appreciation of heritage structures to a whole new level! With this in mind we have developed an initial pair of products, Pictoguides and Timehops, that blend fact, history and fiction into a really unique and fun travel experience. We’d love it if you could try them out and let us know what you think!
Being a historical content producer, we maintain linkages with academia, offering internship opportunities and scholarships to Masters and Ph.D. students and also building a network of historians to help guide our research.
We also expound at length about our vision of a wonderful world brought closer together by tourism and staffed by people working from home in their pajamas. (Yes, we do have other interests besides making money).
And, while we’re on the subject of pajama-clad individuals, we’d like to acknowledge our extended team of talented, creative and travel-happy folks, most of whom would have been out of our league if not for their desire to be part of something different (and our above-average ability to cajole, bribe and lie our way into getting them on board). We remain on the lookout to expand our network.
Yup. That’s us in a nutshell. Do connect with us if you would like to learn more.
Now let’s Go!Places
